Philosophy
The
introduction of Greek philosophy into the Muslim
land had far reaching impact on Islamic intellectual
and cultural life in the 9th century. Can the
Greek philosophy of Plato, Aristotle and Plotinus
meet with the philosophies of Islam? In justifying
the Greek philosophy or otherwise, several schools
of thought emerged such as al-Mu'tazilah, and
many intellectuals wrote on this subject.
Abu
Yusuf Ya'qub al-Kinidy (died 866) was the first
Muslim Philosopher to distinguish himself as both
a great Muslim thinker and a serious student of
the Geek philosophy.
Muhammad
bin Zakariya ar-Razi, a prolific author, was one
of the most brilliant geniuses of the middle ages
who wrote about philosophy, logic, astronomy and
physical science.
Ibn
Rush, Al-Razi, al Farabi and Ibn Sina all wrote
on philosophies of logic, medicine and belief.
